Social Media Breeds Zombies?

Zombie Strippers - What Could Go Wrong

Went to my first DC Media Makers meeting tonight.

Partially because the Browncoats: Redemption film was going to be talked about. Mostly because the group sounded interesting.

Not only was it interesting stuff, the people there were pretty darn cool and outgoing. I'll definitely be going back next month for the next get-together. I'm starting to think the whole Social Media thing is where I should be drifting toward... it does seem to fit well with things I do anyway. Too bad I'm so late to the game in figuring it out.

Aside from the expectedly interesting Browncoat stuff, there was also a presentation/discussion from Scott Stead, who runs DocumentaryClub.org. It's a neat idea--a place for people who love documentaries to talk about the "film of the month" and plan physical world viewing parties. The discussion about how to grow and encourage interactivity in a group like that--especially trying to get some of the real-world discussions blended with the online ones--was interesting and aspiring.

Even more neat, though, was one of the links he shared. Lost Zombies is a very creative project that is bringing together a world-wide community to create a fictional documentary about a zombie apocalypse. It blends the ever-popular zombie interest with filmmaking enthusiasts and twists in a bit of an alternate reality game.

Check it out... I'm sure some of you would love to contribute.

Thanks so much!
For the post - it was a fun evening - great discussion flowing in all directions. Huge fan of DC Media Makers. Really enjoy the variety of folks that show up and their willingness to share ideas. I really dig Lost Zombies in so many ways - partially because I love doc/mockumentaries, partially because I love community building, and partially because I love, well...zombies. I think people dug it because it's funny, weird, creative, and well...it has zombies in it. It was great meeting you and I look forward to future discussions. Feel free to drop me a line anytime - my contact info is on my about page over on my blog - all the way at the bottom. Cheers! http://www.scottstead.com/about/

See you at the next DCMM!!!
